Most pets love holidays. They often receive gifts and share in the feast. They’re excited to see family and friends and happy to have their family home. Even if they’re shy, they sense the festive spirit in the air and respond in kind.
We always feel sorry for those who have no family, especially when holidays approach. Little concern is left for the animals that are waiting for a family to celebrate with, but Iams and the Helen Woodward Animal Center would like to change that. Their goal this year is 1.5 million pet adoptions & 5 million meals donated to shelters!
How you can help donate food and create awareness:
- Adopt – Search adoptable pets in your area.
- Like – ‘Like’ Iams on Facebook to donate food to shelters in need.
- Send – Holiday pet adoption certificates and e-cards through Iams.
- Share – ‘Share’ Iams content with friends to adopt or donate food. You can also post a badge to your profile declaring that you’ve adopted, donated, etc.
- Purchase – Buy a bag, donate a meal. When you buy a specially marked bag of Iams, food will be donated to a local shelter.
- Volunteer at a Shelter – Volunteer with your local shelter or foster an animal over the holidays.
- Promote it on your website – We are happy to share our banner in sizes designed to be more menu-friendly (as seen in our left menu). You may use it for personal or business purposes, as long as it links to the Iams Home for the Holidays campaign. Please right click, save, and host it on your own server. The image link on our server may change.

Is it charity or a cheap marketing/public relations stunt?
With 5.8 million pets in their forever homes thanks to this campaign over the past 13 years, who cares? Last year alone, 1,125,667 pets found their new families.
Corporate giving is a marketing method which benefits countless charities that would be lost without it. The charity can get the money or a TV network can get the money – I choose charities. Otherwise, the above numbers may apply to how many pets have been euthanized. Anyone who doesn’t support corporate giving, will have to find a way to replace the money they pour into animal welfare before they can do too much complaining.
The way I see it anyway ;-).
Blog Hop
