Welfare Weekend: Shelter Donation Items List (With Shareable Holiday Graphic)

With so many charities competing for donations, homeless pets can be forgotten.  Please remember them as you enjoy the festivities and remind your friends too!  There’s a list below of frequently requested items and of course, cash is always helpful.  It’s also more difficult for shelters to find volunteers and foster families over the holidays, so please consider donating your time or home. 

Following is a list of items that animal shelters frequently need:

Crates & cages
Cat & dog beds
Old towels, blankets or throw rugs
Disposable bedding for all species, including straw, timothy & rodent/reptile bedding
Heating pads
Healthy food & treats for all species of pets
Kitten milk replacement
Stainless steel bowls
Grooming supplies
Leashes, harnesses & collars
Cat litter
Syringes, gauze & other medical supplies
Cotton balls & swabs
Toys that are easily sterilized
Dog sweaters
Garbage bags & grocery bags
Buckets & pails
Brooms & mops
Bleach
Disinfectant wipes
Laundry detergent
Hand sanitizer
Latex gloves
Spray bottles
Printer paper, envelopes, stamps & other office supplies
Gift cards to department stores, pet stores & gas stations

    I have a big box of goodies to drop off at our shelter this weekend. Don’t forget to bring a little something for the staff who are working over the holidays.
