The Ontario SPCA & BC SPCA presents National Cupcake Day™ on behalf of local shelters, SPCA’s & Humane Societies across Canada on February 25th, 2013. The event is new to Canada, but it has been wildly successful in other countries.
Participating is a piece of (cup)cake. Bake pet-theme cupcakes for your friends and family in exchange for a donation. The funds raised will help abused and homeless animals all over the country.
How You Can Help
Host a National Cupcake Day Party – Home, school, work… you can have a Cupcake Party anywhere! Register on the National Cupcake Day website and you’ll get your own ‘online bakery’ webpage to promote your fundraising events, accept donations, and upload photos. You’ll also receive a Cupcake Host Welcome Package in the mail with everything from posters to decorations. Printable materials are available on the website as well.
Not a cupcake expert? No problem! The website features baking and decorating tips from “The Cupcake Girls”. Visit the New Zealand Cupcake Day gallery or the Canadian National Cupcake Day Facebook page for fantastic pet cupcake decorating ideas. Tons of animal-theme decorating ideas and tutorials can be found with an Internet search. If the cause isn’t enough incentive, you’ll also have the opportunity to win a $150 Reynolds Baking Supplies Basket for your creation!
Bakeries can get involved to help their community and promote their business.
Buy – What a wonderful excuse to buy cupcakes! Check out the website for parties near to you.
Donate – You can donate on the website, through a participating SPCA or humane society, or through someone you know who is having a Cupcake Day party.

It turned out GREAT! We had a blast with our party and it felt good to pack on a few pounds for once. I hope they keep holding the cupcake fundraisers.
I’m glad you covered the story becausee this is the first I’ve heard of it. I don’t get out much lol but I do have your blog to keep me on top of things.
They really went all out with the setup and marketing so it should be a success.
Thanks for the alert, I’d surely hate to miss this one. I hope they raise a lot of money.
MMMMMMM…my hips are going to hate me for this but I simply must help the animals.
