Dogs can suffer from sunburns and skin damage just like humans can. Some foods and natural supplements offer properties that help protect your dog (and you) from the sun and its damaging effects. Including more natural sunscreen foods in your dog’s diet is a convenient way to protect them from the merciless rays of Summer.
Nutritional Sunburn Prevention
You can protect your dog from sunburn from the inside out by including these foods in their diet:
- Tomato (lycopene)
- Red bell pepper (lycopene & carotenoids)
- Orange vegetables and fruits (beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, and beta-cryptoxanthin)
- Seaweed & marine algae (carotenoids and mycosporine amino acids)
- Berries (flavanols & polyphenols)
- Krill (astaxanthin carotenoid & omega 3)
- Pure green tea (polyphenols)

You did a great job with the info and the illustration. I hope to use the infographic in my herbal classes.
Well darned if I don’t learn something new every day! 😀
Did you use an infographic tool for this? If yes would you mind telling me which one? It’s stunning!
Thanks Pam, I used Photoshop. 🙂
I can honestly say I’ve never heard of internal sunscreen LOL great post.
Fantastic info graphic! It’d be much easier to feed our dogs something than spray on sunscreen! We do have one with a thin coat that will still need the spray but I bet our shepherd will be fine with just food. We always give them lots of shade too.
New info for me and a gret infographic design too. Thanks!
